Welcome to Marc Audet Music (and NORTH RENFREW Folk Music Group)

Welcome everybody to my website, and thanks for spending some time here. I hope that you enjoy the videos and music and bits of interesting historical information that are here because of the historical songwriting that is a focus of mine.  I love being creative, I love music and how beneficial it is in many ways, I love history and exploring the traces of the past that can be found in wilderness areas, and I love bringing all of this together in historical songwriting. Better still, I love performing sets of music that convey the interesting heritage and history of my part of the world, the Ottawa Valley. This website is also home to my folk music group NORTH RENFREW. We have a refreshingly unique sound and our goal is to share our music of festival stages. If you are a festival Artistic Director, book us! You won't regret it.

Latest News - 2023 September

What a great summer that was, with a nice mix of shows: house concerts (my "broad spectrum" Folk Show), an island concert, museum shows (Forgotten Memories of the Ottawa Valley), a couple of pub nights, and one festival!. Between shows there was progress made on the recording of my new 12 song album, which is to be named THOSE DAYS. My focus in September is on recording: working with session musicians, and performing in the studios. Progress is also being made with the remixing of 6 songs from my first album THE RIVER. Those songs are sounding fantastic thanks to a sound specialist who knows how to reshape to original recordings and building mixes that are open and airy. I absolutely love these new mixes. This 6 song album, an EP, is being named OPEN WATER. There is lots of great music coming this fall as this production work reaches completion.

I also hope to fit in a couple of shows in September and October. My calendar is open .. BOOK ME to perform a house concert in your home or community centre, or for your historical society or museum.

Last June (2022), a friend in Deep River asked if I could write a song about the construction of a new long term care home, which is being funded by the Deep River and Area Hospital Foundation (DRDHF). A few months later, the "Close to Home" song was born. The song speaks to the virtues of small town living in a close-knit community and highlights

Last June (2022), a friend in Deep River asked if I could write a song about the construction of a new long term care home, which is being funded by the Deep River and Area Hospital Foundation (DRDHF). A few months later, the "Close to Home" song was born. The song speaks to the virtues of small town living in a close-knit community and highlights the benefits of expanded long term care services to the area. Musician friends Alastair MacDonald (piano), Karen Steven (fiddle), Chelsea Cheng (cello), and Anne Audet (harmony vocals) collaborated to develop song arrangements. Sound designer John MacLean then turned the recorded parts into a beautiful song. The song is available for FREE DOWNLOAD but people are encouraged to offer a donation to the Project through the DRDHF website www.drdhfoundation.com.

Here's a neat graphic - the geo-demographics of Marc Audet Music. The song places mark the route of my musical tour of the Ottawa Valley in the folklore video series Forgotten Memories of the Ottawa Valley (/videos). I promised a friend that I would write a song about the logging and river drives along the Schyan River, so hopefully that'll appear on the map before long.

Upcoming Live Shows

I am currently booking shows for the spring and summer. My new focus with performing is to concentrate on house concerts and specialty shows where audiences are attentive and interested in my music.  I will still be performing occasionally in noisy pubs and restaurants, and at summer markets, but these types of shows will be far less frequent. There will also be FaceBook livestream shows occasionally where I can reach out to followed in other parts of Canada and worldwide. Find me and follow me on FaceBook for those show announcements.
